OUR PHILOSOPHY
It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. A Little Emptiness is rooted in the belief that we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference in our community. With a variety of active projects and a large volunteer staff, we harness our skills and resources to successfully achieve our goals.
OUR MISSION
Even in extreme suffering, we believe there can still be a little empty space in mind to make different choices. All we need to do is to train our mind to build this inner space and realize our potential potentials. Our mission is to build inner wisdom and peace to every suffering individual through counseling, education, and other human interactions.
OUR APPROACH
A Little Emptiness is about letting our mind rest, replenish, and restart in a peaceful space. Only when we allow ourselves to rest, good qualities, such as compassion, forgiveness, gratitude, and new insights, would have room to arise. We strive to provide each and every client a peaceful space psychologically and physically. In such space, we value heartful connection with each person to collaboratively face very challenges in life with humility, kindness, and wisdom.
Kin Cheung (George) Lee
FOUNDER
“There is too much suffering in the world and it doesn’t have to be this way. Let’s allow our common humanity to resonate with each other, stitching together a more compassionate alliance to create a ripple effect of understanding and acceptance.” - Dr. Lee, Founder, A Little Emptiness
Kin Cheung (George) Lee, Ph.D., Ph.D. is a renowned scholar in Buddhist counseling. He received his training as a family therapist and clinical psychologist in the U.S. and training as a Buddhist practitioner and scholar in Hong Kong. After more than 20 years of experience in the field of mental health and academia, Dr. Lee decided to found a counseling center based on Buddhist wisdom. It is an initiation driven by his very beginning mind to provide quality psychological services in congruence with Asian cultural values. To honor the teachings from his master, Venerable Sik Hung (a Buddhist expert in emptiness), he named the counseling center A Little Emptiness. Emptiness is not a void to be feared, but rather a space in which we can nurture ourselves, allowing our inner wisdom to emerge and our inner peace to flourish. Dr. Lee, his colleagues, and A Little Emptiness strives to create a peaceful empty space for different communities in the world.
